Description

Strange Tales from a Chinese Studio is an interactive fiction or visual novel game based on Pu Songling’s anthology of strange and supernatural stories. Pu Songling’s original collection of stories, written in the Qing dynasty, is a collection of ghost stories, mythical tales, and tales of strange occurrences often blending the supernatural with real life. It’s considered one of the most significant works of Chinese classical literature. The game would have been an attempt to bring these fantastical stories to life through the medium of text-based gameplay and basic graphics, typical of many early DOS-based games. These stories often involve elements like ghosts, spirits, demons, and mythical creatures, as well as themes of love, revenge, and justice.
